Rentals of all our student accommodations are based on a 10 month rental cycle from 1 February to 30 November. Each bedroom is accordingly allocated an annual budgeted total taking size and exclusivity into consideration. The budgeted total of a bedroom will not change whether the student tenant wishes to pay monthly installments, per semester payments or a once-off annual amount for the entire year. Occupation can take place from 25 January 2019 for 1st year students arriving for induction/orientation. There is no saving of rental in arriving later or bunking with friends or family or sleeping on park benches.
Early arrivals for exam rewrites and other academic requirements will need to inform our office in advance of their arrival date and will be liable for a prorated rental.
Electricity is supplied to our student houses via Pre-Paid meters. Student tenants are jointly responsible for paying for electricity for their accommodation. It is estimated that electricity costs for 2019 will be between R250 and R300 per month per student depending on usage. To facilitate fair and timely contributions towards electricity we will purchase electricity on behalf of our student tenants at the beginning of each month and invoice their individual rental accounts with their share. Students will be required to make their electricity payment into our bank account in advance with their rental payments.
Water, sewerage and refuse services and collection costs are included in the monthly. Water usage is capped at R80 per person per month (student tenants will be charged for excessive usage of water). Port Elizabeth has been declared a "water disaster region" due to the on-going drought. Strict water restrictions are in place and residents have been urged to each use no more than 50 litres per day.
